2011 BOSS US NATIONAL LOOP COMPETITION - BRINGING HOME THE TITLE (Continued):

We flew out to LA on Friday, October 21 with four carry on bags crammed tight with pedals, theremins, autoharps, and LOTS of bubble wrap. Can you imagine the conversations we had with airport security? Upon arrival at the Hollywood Heights hotel on Friday, we quickly began to run into the other five contestants. These men were not only some seriously skilled musicians, but they were friendly, down to earth, and fun. Everyone was excited, supportive, and encouraging. It was a nice atmosphere. Good thing, because all six of us were stuck in a room together for the entire day of the contest - from 9am - 10pm! It was a long day, and we all were battling nerves, but it was unforgettable! The BOSS team members were all there, chatty and supportive throughout the sound checks and interviews.

When the contest finally started at 6pm on Saturday, we were not allowed to watch or listen. We had no idea how the other contestants were doing, or what the judges were saying! We could only judge the reactions of the crew and contestants after each performance. When my turn came, I was ushered back stage at the end of Chance Galligar's MIDI-guitar performance. I could hear the judges talking, but nothing was processing at that point! I had "Rumblin' " on the brain! The room was very dark. It was the size of an average high school auditorium, and the center isle was pretty packed. The last thing I remember before beginning to sing was hearing someone mispronounce the name of Imogen Heap multiple times - distracting! And then it was off! I was singing my heart out! And then it was over!

When we got back to the hotel after celebrating with some dear family and friends, I had a phone, facebook page, and inbox completely stacked with your encouragements. I didn't watch the performance that night, I just read your messages and blinked back tears. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT! Thanks to all of you who tuned in to www.guitartv.com and supported virtually! I laughed over your comment banter during the contest. I cried over your well-wishes. It was unforgettable.

Thanks so much for being a part. There are lots of pictures posted on my facebook at www.facebook.com/angelasheik. Now on to Germany for the World Competition!
